Controlling a rally car
at high speed is a unique skill, and these activity days open your
eyes to the different driving techniques that professional rally
drivers master!
Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your day
will begin with a thorough safety briefing covering all aspects of
the track and the cars that you are about to drive, as well as
covering the basic principals and techniques of rally driving.
You
will shift over to the practice area where the instructor will
teach you how to perform handbrake turns, then you'll complete four
laps of the Taster stage, and two laps of the half-day stage.
Lunch
is taken at a local pub to re-fuel.
In the afternoon session, you
will be monitored on points such as car control, balance, reactions
and overall ability and will be assessed by means of 3 half-day
stage laps, then 4 timed laps of the full-day stage, taking into
account both consistency and outright speed to determine the driver
of the day! There are trophies for the fastest time and best
improver, and plaques for the runners-up.
