YHA Alston is a Youth Hostel in a quiet location within five minutes' walking distance of Alston town centre.
It is on the Pennine Way (which runs by the side of the hostel) and the Coast to Coast cycle route (C2C).
Being on the edge of town, it is a quiet location but there are three pubs, two supermarkets, banks and local amenities within walking distance.
The surrounding country side has great walking and cycling routes.
they also have red squirrels that can often be seen visiting the nut feeders by the hostel.
