Bird Of Prey Experience Days: For a truly
in-depth, educational and exciting introduction to the world of
professional falconry, look no further than the Falconer for a Day
Experience on the Isle Of Wight.
Lead by experts, you'll spend a
day learning the history of falconry and the skills involved with
bird of prey flying; the perfect experience gift for animal
lovers!
Located in
the grounds of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, the experience
begins at 10am when you are greeted by the instructor and receive a
briefing on what the day ahead will involve.
Throughout the day
you'll be introduced to a variety of beautiful birds, with the
centre housing over 50 birds from 21 species.
You'll shadow the
expert falconer and learn the traditional falconer's knot, the
proper handling techniques of the birds, how to safely fly them
from your gauntlet glove, and much more.
You'll even get a chance
to help train them in various manoeuvres! By the end of the session
you'll have spent a wonderful day in the countryside, coming away
with an increased appreciation for these magnificent
creatures.
