Fishing Experience Days: The beautiful surroundings of Rutland Reservoir are the ideal
location to discover the thrill of fly-fishing! This in-depth
full-day lesson will teach you how to thread your line and cast a
fly before climbing aboard the boat to practice! Your qualified
instructor will provide continual hints and tips throughout the day
to ensure you progress quickly with the correct techniques! Use an
array of skills from reading different water conditions to the best
places to aim and hopefully your patience will pay off if you catch
your first fish! With no experienced required, this is the perfect
taster for the complete novice!Once you have arrived and been
welcomed to the fisherman's cabin your experience will begin with a
safety briefing before an introduction to fly fishing.
Your
qualified instructor will run through the basic skills, beginning
with how to thread the tackle and flies, seasonality of trout
fishing, reading the water conditions to finally casting a fly! You
will then break for lunch*, before climbing aboard the motorboat to
put all your new skills to practice! You will receive tips and
advice throughout your course to ensure you progress quickly and
your techniques are correct.
Your experience will draw to a close
with a de-brief back in the cabin before you return your the
fishing gear.
*Lunch is provided by the centre, please let them know of any
dietary requirements upon booking a specific date.
Please Note: If
you manage to catch any trout throughout your experience the centre
will happily package and clean them up ready for you to take home
to try.
